Mikel Arteta hailed new Arsenal signing Leandro Trossard as he delivered his first impression of the £27million attacker.
Trossard completed his switch to the Gunners from Brighton last week and made his debut on Sunday as they claimed a huge win over Manchester United. The Belgian played a key role in the build-up to Eddie Nketiah’s late winner after coming on as a substitute.
He could be in line to make his full debut for his new club on Friday when Arteta’s side face Manchester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup. Ahead of that clash, the Spaniard hailed the latest addition to his attacking group.
“That’s what I like about him, I see a player who is willing to make things happen and he’s really composed, especially in the final third,” Arteta said when asked about Trossard’s role in Nketiah’s goal.
“And it is something that we needed to add to the team and straight away, he had a beautiful impact on the team to help us to win. Obviously, we have the two more recruits we made in this window.
“If anything else is available that can make us better, we’ll look at it. We need some more cover in midfield ideally if we can, but in this market it is pretty complicated to do that.

“As I always say, the most important thing is that we get the performances and the time on the pitch that we need with the players that we have available today that are already really good.”
Arteta’s praise comes after the decision to sign Trossard was hailed by Arsenal legend Cesc Fabregas. The former Gunners skipper was impressed by the winger during his short cameo against the Red Devils.
“I think Trossard is a really good player, better than at the moment what people think he is. He showed it at Brighton and he showed it today for a couple of minutes,” Fabregas told Sky Sports.
“He’s different to what they’ve (Arsenal have) got. He plays between the lines, he can score goals, play in different positions up front. It was a great, great victory, the way it happened. We were talking before the game about there being games that define seasons.
“It’s still a long way to go, you speak to Mikel and for sure he will tell you that, but as a player sometimes you cannot really explain it in words but you can feel that something special is happening. You can feel it together and you can feel the Emirates booming.
“The passion that this team shows week in, week out, we were just talking about, ‘can they come back from difficult moments?’ Today showed us that they can, it was top, top mentality from them and will give them a push for the rest of the season on a high.”
