How much is 15 minutes of screen-time worth? If you’re Robert Downey Jr., apparently over $500k a minute. That’s how much Spider-Man: Homecoming paid to have Iron Man grace their film according to a recent article by Variety, which has revealed actors’ salaries.
RDJ is one of the more extreme exceptions of an actor getting paid buku bucks for a cameo role, but it really shows just how much Marvel values him as the face of the franchise. It also shows how much money they could save should they decide to kill him off at the end of Avengers 4. Do you think RDJ is worth the money Marvel spends on him, or could the universe survive without the man who was made to play Iron Man?
It’s a huge day for James Gunn and Peter Safran as they have revealed their plans for the first slate of DC Studios films, which is being called Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters.
Those projects include Superman: Legacy, The Brave and the Bold, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Paradise Lost, Booster Gold, Lanterns, The Authority, Creature Commandos, Waller, and Swamp Thing. You can read all of the details on those projects here.
The projects will spin out of the events of the upcoming Flash movie, which will be a soft reboot for the DC Universe, but Aquaman and Blue Beetle, among others, will still be canon to the new timeline.
Gunn says in the video that “Storytelling is always king — that’s all that matters to us.” He also discusses DC’s commitment to letting creators tell their stories without a ton of managerial interference, which is one of the many things that caused such a big mess in the past.
