Tottenham’s managing director Fabio Paratici claims the club will not buckle to fan ‘pressure’ and make signings that are not part of their long-term plan.
The Italian helped oversee Spurs’ January transfer activity which saw them recruit two new faces in full-back Pedro Porro and attacker Arnaut Danjuma.
Despite the two additions, there have been calls from within the Spurs fanbase for the club to be more ambitious in the transfer market yet Paratici insists the club have a clear vision for their ‘long-term project’.
Speaking to the club’s media, Paratici said: ‘The January transfer window is every time not easy.
‘You can’t have a choice of all the market – a lot of players are not available because they are playing or the other club is not happy to sell.

‘We are happy we got our targets. We added two international players to our squad.
‘We have to look not at the small picture of our transfer window but the big picture of our project. It’s a long-term project.
‘When I came here 18 months ago, we used the word “rebuild” for the squad, to be competitive at the highest level of the Premier League. And we continue like this.
‘Every transfer window we want to add two or three players to our squad, to our plan. We want to sign just players who can add something to us.
‘Not just sign players because we have to sign players or because we’re under pressure to sign players. That’s not our style.
‘We know our plans, we know our philosophy and we’ll continue like this.’
Since Paratici has arrived at Tottenham, the club have made a total of 12 permanent signings – with Dejan Kulusevski currently on loan but with an option to buy.
Among those include Richarlison’s £60m move from Everton, Rodrigo Bentancur’s £16m move from Juventus and Emerson Royal’s £25m move from Barcelona.

The Spurs managing director may take pride in his business thus far but he may not be in the role for too much longer after receiving a two-and-a-half year ban for his role in Juventus’ dodgy transfer dealings.
Paratici has been hit with the 30-month ban by the Italian FA for his time at Juventus, with the club said to have overstated the value of transfer fees to get around financial rules.
The club and Paratici deny that and have said they will appeal against the bans and the 15-point deduction for Juventus.
There were claims recently that the managing director had paid over the odds for Spurs’ Cristian Romero, however the club believe that is not the case.
