Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher won’t have a “shortage of takers” if he decides to leave Anfield in the summer window, journalist Pete O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT.
Kelleher has impressed as Liverpool’s number-two, with Jurgen Klopp labelling the Republic of Ireland international as a “top-class” talent.
Liverpool transfer news – Caoimhin Kelleher
Since breaking into the Liverpool first-team, Kelleher has featured regularly as the Reds’ backup goalkeeper, making 20 senior appearances (Transfermarkt).
Playing second-fiddle to number-one Alisson, Kelleher has shone between the sticks for Liverpool, particularly during last season’s domestic cup run.
Kelleher, who earns £32,000 per week, scored the eventual winning penalty against Chelsea in the League Cup final, before going on to star in another shootout against the Blues once more during the FA Cup final.
However, now aged 24 years old, there is a growing sense it could be time for Kelleher to leave Liverpool in search of pastures new.
The Athletic, Liverpool are considering selling their fringe players to raise money for the signing of Jude Bellingham.
Amongst the names of players that might be sold is Kelleher himself, with the report stating he has a desire to play more first-team football.

What has Pete O’Rourke said about Kelleher leaving Liverpool?
Speaking in an interview with GMS, journalist O’Rourke revealed that Kelleher could look to secure a move away from Anfield at the end of the season.
On the 24-year-old, O’Rourke said: “Long term is he going to replace Alisson as number one?
“Probably not for a while right now and he’s getting to that stage of his career, Caoimhin Kelleher, where he probably needs to go and play regular first-team football.
“I’m sure there’d be no shortage of takers for the Republic of Ireland international if he does decide to leave Liverpool in the summer.”
What would Kelleher offer a new club if he left Liverpool?
While the sample size might be small, Kelleher has demonstrated on numerous occasions for Liverpool he is a dependable option.
During his appearances in the League Cup for Liverpool this season, the shot-stopper notched up a 7.76 rating from WhoScored, indicating his ability to perform at a high level.
Away from regular game time, there may also be another incentive for Kelleher to leave Liverpool in search of a new club this summer.
Fellow goalkeeper and Republic of Ireland teammate Gavin Bazunu left Manchester City to join Southampton ahead of the 2022/23 campaign and has featured 25 times in all competitions for Saints this season – more senior appearances in half a season than Kelleher has managed in his entire career.
Should Kelleher wish to keep hold of his number-one spot as the Republic of Ireland’s goalkeeper ahead of the Euro 2024 qualifiers, the Cork-born goalkeeper may have to wave goodbye to Anfield in the summer.
