According to reports, Kyrie Irving has requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets, and it appears that LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers is keeping an eye on his situation.
After news of Irving’s trade demand surfaced, James appears to react to the news on social media. He really didn’t say anything, but his two-emoji tweet of an eye and a crown is enough to get NBA Twitter buzzing.

Irving is said to be seeking a move away from the Nets on or before the February 9 trade deadline, with league sources noting that he is prepared to leave in free agency in July if no deal is made, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Of course this puts the Nets in a difficult situation since they wouldn’t want to lose Irving for nothing after investing so much on him and enduring all the drama he has brought in a bid to contend for the championship. Brooklyn is a strong title contender this 2022-23 due to the improved plays of Kevin Durant and Kyrie, so moving their star guard when they finally have something going is definitely quite tricky.
s for LeBron James and the Lakers, it is not the first time they have been linked with Irving. They were considered as the favorite landing spot for him when he asked for a trade in the offseason. It remains to be seen how much of an interest they still have on Kyrie, though basing it off on LeBron’s tweet (if it is really about Irving), then it sure seems there is some level of intrigue there.
For now, Nets and Lakers fans can only wait and see what both teams will do. Brooklyn can risk it all and try to convince Irving to stay to compete for a title, but there’s definitely a chance the team deals him away, too.
