Just like how Triple H and WWE can’t stop teasing Dwayne Johnson for WrestleMania 39, Hollywood production companies also can’t help it. Johnson isn’t just a small-time actor anymore. His influence and reach have grown massively, after his various movies and tv shows. Not to mention his charismatic appearances in interviews and live events.
So it doesn’t come as a surprise that Universal Studios would use his star power as well as many others to promote the Fast series. But the problem is that Johnson isn’t even a part of the franchise anymore since the ninth part came out. Also, the feud between Johnson and fellow main lead in the Fast series, Vin Diesel hasn’t come to any conclusion. So will Johnson do anything about this?
Dwayne Johnson is being dragged into the promotion for Fast X, despite not being in it
As there isn’t much time for the Fast X trailer to drop, Universal Studios have been dropping trailers for the previous movies. So, they also dropped the fan-favorite fifth installment, Fast Five’s trailer. This trailer introduced Johnson as Luke Hobbs to the franchise’s fandom. While Johnson might be in the trailer, the movie rights and the trailer’s rights are with Universal.
Even if Johnson wanted to say something about it, he couldn’t say it. Except if Johnson had some positive words for the future of the franchise and the tenth installment.
For those who don’t remember, Johnson made his last appearance in the eighth installment. But then went on to play the lead in his own spinoff movie, Hobbs vs Shaw. But ever since Johnson left the series, the box office numbers or the fan reception aren’t as strong as before. Did The Rock affect this long-standing franchise in such a significant way?
Despite the movie being a commercial hit, Universal hasn’t announced any plans for the sequel. They honed all of their focus in on Fast X being a success. With Jason Momoa of Aquaman fame and Brie Larson of Captain Marvel fame, not to mention Rita Moreno, a legendary actress joining the gang, this movie will be one to watch.
