Dwayne Johnson is one of the world’s leading superstars. Johnson made his DC debut through his solo anti-hero film Black Adam which was promoted by The Rock as the savior of the drowning DCU. Ever since the news of Johnson’s association with DCU was confirmed, the San Andreas star kept his fans updated with all major and minor news of the upcoming movie.
Johnson surely managed to get Henry Cavill’s cameo as Superman in his movie but failed to impress the audience. It turns out Johnson’s dream project and plans were shattered after the evident fact that Black Adam failed to do well at the Box Office.
Dwayne Johnson’s forced Henry Cavill’s cameoIs Dwayne Johnson The True Reason Behind Black Adam’s Poor Performance
As the WWE star kept updating his fans about his DCU debut, soon the news of Johnson’s massive demands surfaced on the internet. Reportedly Cavill’s Superman cameo was highly insisted by Johnson despite the maker’s dissatisfaction. Reportedly, Johnson was planning to remap the entire DCU with his character as the center. As per Johnson’s ambitious plans, the Red Notice star wanted to see Black Adam v/s Superman as the future of DCU.
Johnson’s big promises have surely failed after the poor performance of Black Adam at the box office. James Gunn, the co-CEO of DCU, has recently announced his future plans for the DCU which has no mention of Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam. Though as per the reports Black Adam could have done well at the box office if only The Rock didn’t muscle his way into very creative decisions.
Dwayne Johnson as Black AdamDwayne Johnson’s Increasing Demands
Black Adam collected $ 393 million at the international box office. With its initial budget of $ 190 million. But this pre-decided budget was destroyed by Johnson’s demands which cost the studio another $ 40 million. It looked like the former WWE champion was not happy with certain scenes of the movie and insisted on reshoots which cost an additional $ 40 million to the makers. Not to forget the very fact that the above-mentioned numbers exclude the money invested in the marketing of the movie. The margins of profit would evidently be higher only if Johnson’s insisted reshoot never occurred in the first place.
Apart from Henry Cavill‘s forced Superman cameo, the WWE superstar demanded producing credit for the animated movie, DC League of Super-Pets, where he voiced Krypto. The deteriorating relationship between the Jumanji star and the studio continued as Johnson demanded the presence of his tequila brand, Teremana, despite the movie being rated PG-13. As per the insiders, the demand for Johnson just kept on increasing with no returns, which possibly is the main reason for Gunn to exclude Black Adam from his DCU vision.
Dwayne Johnson’s deteriorated relations with WB
The future of Johnson’s Black Adam is still unclear at the moment. The Central Intelligence star confronted and accepted his failure which surely is commendable. It looks like both Johnson and DCU failed each other with a future full of uncertainties.
