Harry Maguire is ‘increasingly accepting’ the fact that he will have to leave Man United this summer. Currently, the English midfielder is also receiving the attention of Inter Milan.
The Daily Mail claim both the club and the player are approaching an agreement to leave in the next transfer window.
Ten Hag chose Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez as his first choice defensive pair. And the Dutch coach even chose left-back Luke Shaw over Maguire in the center of defence.
In the recent 2-0 win over Leeds, Maguire and Shaw were paired at centre-back as Ten Hag rested Varane and Martinez.
Maguire has a contract until 2025 and earns around £180,000 a week. West Ham are looking to recruit this midfielder but it is difficult to meet his salary.
In addition, Inter Milan is also said to be very interested in Maguire. The Serie A second-placed club asked to borrow him last month but failed and they could return in the summer.
Maguire has admitted that he “doesn’t want to get used to” the dual role. But he also hopes to get more game time as United’s matches become more intense.
After returning to play the full 90 minutes against Leeds, Maguire said: “It’s not about me, it’s about the success of the club and I want to be a part of it.”
“I am the captain and I always put the team before myself. Whether I play or not, I want the team to do well. I’m still getting my minutes. Everyone wants to start the game and it’s disappointing that you don’t.”
“You have four international centre-backs at this club and there will always be two unhappy. I just have to be ready when the opportunity arises,” he added.
