Arsenal looked into signing Federico Dimarco over the summer but he could now end in the Premier League with Manchester City.
Cast your minds back to last summer and a new left back was a top priority for Arsenal.
Kieran Tierney’s injury problems made him somewhat unreliable and Nuno Tavares struggled in the second half of last season.
Arsenal were desperate to add another left back and did eventually secure a deal to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City.
The Ukrainian has become a fan favourite at Arsenal but he wasn’t the only target on Arsenal’s radar over the summer.
The Gunners also had a look at Inter Milan ace Federico Dimarco, with Tuttomercatoweb reporting in May that Arsenal had made contact over a potential deal.
Arsenal would have had to pay around £21million for Dimarco and ended up waiting it out for Zinchenko instead.
Dimarco has continued to impress in Italy though and could end up making a move to the Premier League after all.
90Min claim that Manchester City scouts have been impressed with Dimarco this season.
City allowed Joao Cancelo to leave for Bayern Munich in January and their left back options now look pretty thin.
Dimarco could now emerge as a top target, ironically filling the gap left by now-Arsenal ace Zinchenko – the man signed instead of the Italian.
Di Marco, 25, has bagged four goals and four assists in 29 games for Inter this season.
A product of the Inter youth ranks, Dimarco has had detours to Sion, Parma and Hellas Verona before finally becoming an Inter star.
Now an Italy international too, Dimarco is on the rise and City could look to lure him to the Etihad Stadium this summer.
That would be quite the turn after Arsenal’s interest, but the Gunners are definitely happy with Zinchenko and not exactly looking at Dimarco regretting their decision.
