Former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand has given his verdict on Marcus Rashford‘s performance against Barcelona.
Rashford scored United’s first goal in the 2-2 draw and played a key role in the second, an own goal by Jules Kounde.
The United forward netted his 22nd goal of the season in the win, equalling his career best tally.
The tie is all to play for at Old Trafford, with the away goals rule scrapped. Rashford will be even tougher for Barcelona to stop on home turf.
Rashford praised
Rio Ferdinand reacted on Twitter of to share his admiration for Rashford, praising his superb form.
He wrote: “He is on a new level, a level he hasn’t been at until now, a level of consistency he hasn’t been able to stay at until now. A fit, Focused, direct, confident, deadly & potent Rashford is not to be messed with!”
Rashford had a good shot saved in the first half and then took his game up a notch in the second, with Barcelona struggling to cope with him.
No other United player has reached double figures this season, while Rashford will soon be aiming towards the 30-goal mark.
This goal may just have been the most iconic of Rashford’s season so far. He became the first United player since Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole in 1998 to score against Barcelona at the Nou Camp.
Now he will be looking to finish the job next week. Barcelona’s ‘anti-Rashford’ plan did not work in the first leg, and they will have to come up with another idea for the second leg, which will hopefully fail too.
