Carlo Ancelotti’s first stint at Real Madrid ended in May 2015 when Florentino Perez announced his sacking. The Merengues had finished trophyless while our arch-rivals Barcelona won the treble, so the managerial change did not come as a big surprise.
However, there were those who seemingly wanted Ancelotti to continue at the club, and Cristiano Ronaldo was one of them. In an interview with Marca, the Portuguese spoke highly of the coach and expressed his desire to work with Carletto in the future.
“He’s like a big teddy bear, he’s really sensitive and is a great guy. He would speak with us every day, but not just with me, with all of the players. He had great fun with us,” Cristiano said. (h/t Bleacher Report)
He’s a great person and my only wish is that every player gets the chance to work with him because he’s such a great guy and a fantastic coach.”
Ancelotti would return to Madrid in 2021, but this time around, Ronaldo was no longer at the club.
