Manchester City and Arsenal have both been slapped with fines by the Football Association after their players ‘surrounded the match official’ during their recent Premier League fixture earlier this month.

The FA issued a statement on Friday (February 24) in relation to the offences from the match on February 15, which the Blues won 3-1 thanks to goals from Jack Grealish, Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland. It comes after the charges were initially announced in the days following the encounter.

City have been fined £75,000, with the FA making reference to incidents in the 42nd and 64th minutes. The Gunners, meanwhile, have been fined an initial £65,000, plus an additional £20,000. That sum had been suspended in relation to a previous charge relating to Arsenal’s FA Cup win over Oxford United.

“Arsenal and Manchester City have both been fined by an independent Regulatory Commission after their players surrounded the match official at different times during their Premier League fixture on Wednesday 15 February,” the statement reads.
