Real Madrid have been linked with some of the most highly-rated young players in world football in recent times, as it is clear that the club want to build a team not just for now, but for the future as well.
One player who certainly falls under that category is Khvicha Kvaratskhelia of Napoli, who has taken Italian football by storm ever since arriving in the summer.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, Kvaratskhelia has scored 12 goals and provided 15 assists in 26 appearances for Napoli this season. That is fantastic for a left-winger, who turned 22 years of age just this month.
He has been one of the biggest reasons why Napoli sit at the top of the Serie A table, against all odds and expectations. Unsurprisingly, some of the biggest clubs in Europe have been linked with a move for the youngster in recent times. Other than Real Madrid, Manchester United, Chelsea and several other top teams have been rumoured as potential future destinations for Kvaratskhelia.
There is some bad news for all the clubs looking to sign Kvaratskhelia though. It looks like his foreseeable future might lie in Naples.
Real Madrid suffer transfer blow for €100 million player
As Fabrizio Romano said on his official YouTube channel, Napoli do not want to open negotiations or speak to any club or any agent regarding Kvaratskhelia at the moment.
Of course, Napoli are considered one of the toughest negotiators in European football. One just needs to look towards how they managed to keep Kalidou Koulibaly at the club for so many years, while he was considered one of the best centre-backs in world football. It was just last summer that he finally left to join Chelsea, at 31 years of age.
It remains to be seen what the long-term future holds for Kvaratskhelia at Napoli. It is believed that it will take a transfer fee north of €100 million to sign him.
