“I thank my fans, and those of BLACKPINK, all the time. I keep all of the warm and precious moments that we have shared with each other close to my heart. I would like to send all of their love right back to them. Their energy gives me strength each second. People can experience joy when they come to see us, but there are also people who tell us that they have found strength in their daily lives, especially when they are going through a difficult time. I am incredibly encouraged and motivated by these stories. They help me to understand my role. I feel, in a way, more responsibility for them.”
Her determined debuts
“When I first started out, I did monthly evaluations. The aim was to assess not just my talent for singing and dancing, but also the points that showed who I was, and demonstrated my potential. So I had to think about this all of the time. I will never forget those days because they represent all of the effort that I put in. Thanks to these irreplaceable moments, today I can reflect back, and look for – and find – what is best for me when I am facing a new challenge.”
Her iron will
“Ever since childhood, I have never been afraid to face challenges and I rarely regret my choices. I think that this is why I have fun while working.”
Her best memory
“BLACKPINK‘s first concert in Seoul, South Korea. Of course, we’ve done some big concerts since then, but it was even more special for me because I was at that place with our fans, and I had the opportunity, to see the concerts of different singers myself. Also, the most important thing is to look at the fans when I am on stage. I do everything I can to pass on my energy to them because it could be a day that they will remember all their life. This is an amazing feeling.”
Her style influences
“I pay a lot of attention to the concept and the harmony of my look. It’s important to try new things and to be unique, but the key, for me, is to adapt it well so that I can then present myself with it. Representing Dior gives a subtle and refined charisma that always draws attention.”
Her BLACKPINK family
“Today, I spend more time with them than I do with my family. It’s a relationship that goes beyond everything else. We can now understand each other without even saying anything. We are a source of energy for each other, which motivates us and has a positive impact. All four of us are together walking the same path, and that’s where our synergy is created.”
Her relaxation techniques
“I like to be contemplative, and to meditate in my own space, thinking about many things, or thinking about nothing. I listen to classical or calming music. These moments, which are completely free of thoughts, television and cell phones, are essential for me to rest. I also like to do Pilates and go for walks. Sometimes I just sit on a bench and admire nature. I savor these moments after my busy schedules.”
Her glowing future
“I’m not someone who sees the short term. I look further ahead. I think forward in order to live my dream. I’ll live doing what I want to do, just like I do now. I would also like to have a solo career. Of course, it wouldn’t be easy to present myself as JISOO, rather than as a group of four as BLACKPINK, but it’s exciting.”
