Carlo Ancelotti stood on the sideline with a pensive look as Real Madrid struggled to find the back of the net against Real Betis. It was a frustrating game for the Italian manager, as his side could not convert their chances into goals. The 0-0 draw did little to ease the growing pressure on Ancelotti, who has been under fire in recent weeks.
Ancelotti’s future at Real Madrid has been the subject of much speculation lately, with the Italian tactician feeling that the club have already made their minds up about him before the season even started, reports ABC (h/t Madrix Xtra).
This belief was cemented when the Real Madrid board did not support him on the transfer market during the summer transfer window.
Even though the Italian demanded the signing of a few players, including a striker, Real Madrid did not heed his demands. The manager was shocked to see the club’s reluctance in investing in new players. The club believed no new signing was needed.
This enforced beliefs into Ancelotti’s head that Real Madrid’s faith in him had been waning. In many ways, it was reminiscent of his first stint at Real Madrid, where he faced similar doubts and questions about his future.
The doubts over Ancelotti’s future were further exacerbated by the recent links to the Brazilian national team. The team’s underperformance in domestic competitions is another factor, with the Whites notably losing to Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey semifinal recently.
However, the Italian has proven time and time again that he is a real winner and is more than capable of turning things around. Especially in Copa Del Rey, the Merengue have what it takes to overturn a one-goal deficit against Barça.
Real Madrid are in a good position in the Champions League, having taken a 5-2 lead over Liverpool going into the second-leg tie in the Round of 16.
