Mason Mount has been urged to snub Liverpool and ‘stay at the club he loves’ by Chelsea legend Florent Malouda.
Mount’s struggled to hold down a regular spot in Chelsea’s starting 11 this season, and it’s unlikely he’ll fare any better next term following the Blues’ £323million splurge on a swathe of new talent in January.
The midfielder’s got a year left on his current deal and has stalled on signing a new one due to a salary disparity with the Blues. However, Chelsea aren’t budging either, and reportedly plan to flog the England talisman this summer if he doesn’t put pen to paper.
Liverpool are said to be interested in providing Mount a new home, as they seek to rejuvenate their ageing midfield. But former Blue Malouda reckons Mount should snub the Reds and fight for his spot at the club he’s been at since the age of five.
Malouda told DAZN Bet: “Mason Mount should snub Liverpool and stay and Chelsea.

“I don’t think Mason Mount should leave Chelsea. It should be part of your mentality and spirit that when you’re at a club like Chelsea, there is strong competition.
“Mount is like the DNA for Chelsea, he loves the club. When you look at his performances since he got into the first team, playing lots of games for club and country, it’s normal that physically you need to recover and regenerate.

“But it should not be his mentality that just because you’re not in the starting XI, you have to leave. It could be the same at Liverpool or any top club. Nowadays with the fixture schedule, you cannot play all the games with the same intensity and then go to the national team too.
“I think he belongs to Chelsea and they should keep him, it’s important for the other players to understand he’s part of the project and the future because he’s a young and talented English player.

“He’s won the Champions League and other trophies, these are the players you want to keep at the club.” However, the decision might be out of Mount’s hands as it’s been claimed that Blues owner Todd Boehly is looking to flog the centre-midfielder along with 14 other players who he deems as dead weight this summer.
