Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was impressed with Jadon Sancho’s performance in the no.10 role during Sunday’s 0-0 draw against Southampton in the Premier League.
Sancho started there for Ten Hag’s side, although he also featured at times on the left or the right wing, depending on where the Reds were attacking from.It was the latest in a series of positive displays since Jadon made his long-awaited return to action on 1 February, against Nottingham Forest.
Speaking in his post-match press conference after drawing with the Saints, Ten Hag said that Sancho took to his new role very well and has recently put in some great performances in both domestic and European matches.
”I think he did quite well as a number ten,” said the manager.”Like he did against Barcelona and Leicester. He was really decisive against Leicester and also today with some really good actions. One time, he was really close to the goal with a run at the defending line and a cross to Bruno almost came there. He did a good job.”
In a follow-up question, Ten Hag was asked if Sancho has improved the physical aspect of his game and what kind of impact he can have.In response, the boss insisted that Jadon can be the difference maker in any match.
”I think he can, I think he can make the difference when we play three against two in the midfield. And that is not bad when you have Casemiro and Bruno and you have Jadon Sancho.”
