Raheem Sterling snubbed while four Chelsea players make the England squad
Raheem Sterling has been dropped from the England squad due to injury concerns, while four Chelsea players make the cut for March international games against Italy and Ukraine.
Conor Gallagher, Reece James, Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell are the ones who will represent their national team in the coming games. It will be a welcome back for James and Chilwell, as they missed the World Cup due to respective injuries.
Sterling, who has been in good form recently, missed the league game against Leicester City on Saturday due to a tight hamstring. He may or may not be fit for the game against Everton on Saturday. England boss Gareth Southgate confirmed that the 28-year-old has been dropped due to the injury concern and nothing else.
While the inclusion of James and Chilwell makes sense, Gallagher and Mount haven’t been in great form to warrant that place. Moreover, the latter has missed the last two games due to an abdominal issue. He will be fit for the weekend though.
After winning the last three games in all competitions, Graham Potter has restored some confidence among the fans. Things are starting to look promising after an ordinary month following the heavy-spending January window.
The likes of Enzo Fernandez, Kai Havertz and Mateo Kovacic are gelling well in midfield and attack, while Chilwell is slowly returning to his best self.

We face Everton at home on Saturday, with the hope to continue that winning run before the international break. It will be a tough game because the Toffees are fighting for every point to survive in the league. Everton boss Sean Dyche had a good record at Stamford Bridge during his Burnley days (two draws and a win in the last five visits).
We could see N’Golo Kante making an appearance off the bench after returning to team training for a few days now. That would be a great moment for the fans who haven’t seen him in action since August.
