- Messi confirms that Mateo is ‘a little monster’.
- He confesses that people sometimes wouldn’t believe the stories he is telling about his younger son.
Mateo Messi is quite famous among Barca fans, always attracting everyone’s attention with his jokes. The little ‘troll’ – as Messi himself once called his son – sometimes celebrates Barca opponents’ goals and cheers against his father just for fun.
In the interview with RAC1, Leo has once again confirmed that this is exactly how Mateo is in normal life.
The show host has jokingly asked if Barca captain knows that he is raising ‘a little monster’ in Mateo and Leo has eagerly confirmed that.
“Yes, we’re trying to reign him in a little. He is a complete bastard,” Messi said, laughing. “People laugh with the stories I tell, but then they meet him for five minutes and realize I wasn’t lying about anything.”

Leo has also recalled that Mateo loves calling him by the full name, copying the fans.
“Mateo who keeps calling me Leo Messi: ‘Come on, Leo Messi’ and other stuff like that. So that’s why it’s not good for them to hear stuff like that.”
Earlier, Messi revealed some complexities of Mateo’s character which include some brutal trolling.
“My children and I played football at home and Mateo told me he was Liverpool because they beat me in the Champions League. And the same for Valencia.
“Mateo looks at me and challenges me, he has the face of a son of a bit*h… Ciro looks the same.
“At home when everybody is watching football together, Mateo will celebrate Real Madrid goals to p*ss off his brother.”
However, the little rascal has apparently switched his alliances and now fully supports his dad.
“He’s beginning to understand what it means when we lose and what it means for me and the team,” Messi said back in September. “Both Thiago and Mateo are Barca fans now. Neither likes to lose at anything. They’re very competitive. When they lose, they suffer too.”
