It could be a busy summer for Erik ten Hag and Manchester United as several stars could leave Old Trafford.
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has been told that as many as 12 of his current squad should be sold ahead of next season, as the Dutchman has been warned that a massive overhaul of the team needs to take place. Ten Hag has not been afraid to upset the apple cart, as his treatment of Cristiano Ronaldo proved, but a dozen summer exits would be an enormous task.
Just two summer sales were sanctioned last year in Andreas Pereira and Tahith Chong, while the likes of Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic, Edinson Cavani and Juan Mata all left on free transfers. Ten Hag already axed five members of the squad in pre-season due to a bloated dressing room, but ex-United defender Paul Parker believes he needs to do so once again before next season and involve some big names.
“I would say that 10 players from the current squad need to leave Man United this season,” Parker initially told Bettors. “Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, Donny van de Beek, Anthony Elanga, Wout Weghorst, Anthony Martial, Jadon Sancho and Antony all have to leave the club.
“And then we can always talk about players like Phil Jones, Eric Bailly and so on who don’t have a future at the club but they are quite obvious. A lot of the names that I mentioned are obvious because they are not playing and they want to play regularly.

“But I want to elaborate why I think that Victor Lindelof should leave, because I actually like him as a player. He has been made the scapegoat by a lot of fans and the media as well. But he has a lot of qualities and he could play for a lot of good clubs.”
Antony joined Ten Hag at United after a late £85million bid was accepted by Ajax, but he has had a mixed start to life at Old Trafford. He has been critiqued for his perceived lack of end product, while the frequent skills he displays on the right flank have seen him lambasted at times.

Parker believes that the Brazilian does not have the consistency to nail down a spot in the United team and they would be wise to sell him and reinvest the money in a replacement.
“Antony… I can see the reason why Erik ten Hag brought him in. He knew him very well and he knows that he works hard. He can trust him,” Parker added. “But I just don’t see him having the opportunity to make himself a regular player at Man United.
“I think there are a lot of better players out there that are way cheaper than him. And I don´t believe that he can pay back in performance what Man United paid for him. I really don’t see him occupying that right-hand side. Man United need a player that can perform consistently and I don’t think they will ever get that from him.”
