Susie and Tony Troxler never gave up on being parents. The dream never faded, even as Susie turned 50 years old. After years of trying to ᴄᴏɴᴄᴇɪᴠᴇ, Susie Troxler, from the city of Greensboro, North Carolina (U.S.A), finally managed to ꜰᴜʟꜰɪʟʟ her dream of becoming a mother, at the age of 50. She and her husband, Tony Troxler, 61, call little Lily Troxler a “ᴍɪʀᴀᴄʟᴇ baby” because of the difficulties they faced becoming parents. In an interview, Susie said that she has been married to Tony for 13 years and that during all this time they were trying to have a baby. She said: “After so many years of not getting ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ, I started thinking, ‘Something might be wrong here,’”
The mother only considered having tests to investigate the causes of the problem during an appointment with a new ɢʏɴᴇᴄᴏʟᴏɢɪsᴛ about 3 years ago. Susie said: “At the end of the consultation, she asked, ‘Do you have any questions, concerns, anything you want to talk about?’ Honestly, if she hadn’t asked that question, Lily probably wouldn’t be here.”
After making an appointment with a ꜰᴇʀᴛɪʟɪᴛʏ sᴘᴇᴄɪᴀʟɪsᴛ, she discovered that she had ꜰɪʙʀᴏɪᴅs, and had to have them sᴜʀɢɪᴄᴀʟʟʏ ʀᴇᴍᴏᴠᴇᴅ. In 2019, Susie tried to get ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ through I.V.F. She added: “It didn’t work out, it was very disappointing. When I was ʀᴇᴄᴏᴠᴇʀᴇᴅ and ready to have a second ᴇᴍʙʀʏᴏ ᴛʀᴀɴsᴘʟᴀɴᴛ, ᴄᴏᴠɪᴅ showed up and I had to wait another year.”
Last year, the mother decided to use her last ꜰʀᴏᴢᴇɴ ᴇᴍʙʀʏᴏ to, once again, try to ꜰᴜʟꜰɪʟʟ her dream of having a baby. To the family’s happiness, this time the ꜰᴇʀᴛɪʟɪᴢᴀᴛɪɪᴏɴ worked. Little Lily was born on the 29th of September. Susie said: “Having sleep deprived is ᴀʙsᴏʟᴜᴛᴇʟʏ worth it. It’s beyond worth it. It’s still surreal. I don’t even have words. I still look at her and think, ‘How amazing this kid is,’”
Tony Troxler said he’s still trying to wrap his head around being a father. He said: “Even now I find myself just staring at her. Before she was born, she had me wrapped around her pinky finger.” Susie said: “I’m of the belief that kids come when they’re supposed to come, regardless of the age of the parents. We look at it as this is exactly how it was meant to be. She’s our ᴍɪʀᴀᴄʟᴇ baby.”
