Lots of controversies surrounding Zachary Levi started to surface following the underperformance of his latest project, Shazam! Fury of the Gods. To add fuel to the fire, MCU’s Anson Mount recently joined in on one of the heated debates on social media.
The argument started after Levi allegedly dissuaded fans to watch and support Keanu Reeves’ John Wick: Chapter 4 film. The public slammed the actor for his alleged overconfidence with Shazam 2 being far better than Chad Stahelski’s action-thriller movie. Mount, in response, posted a picture of himself as Black Bolt with a gesture suggesting Levi to shush.
Anson Mount as Black Bolt
Black Bolt Star Anson Mount Publicly Apologized To Zachary Levi
Much to the curiosity of the public, the said video was claimed to be edited, and Zachary Levi’s statement was taken out of context. On Twitter, Anson Mount posted a thread of apology and revealed that he has already spoken with the actor:
“So about a week ago I kinda drug my friend @ZacharyLevi for a post that had been taken out of context. First of all, even if it hadn’t been taken out of context, that’s just not something someone should do to a friend and colleague.”
The Black Bolt star admitted that upon learning the video was manipulated, he did not bother to rectify himself:
“When it came to my attention that he’d been taken out of context, I didn’t post a correction. And THEN, of course, what happens? I see him this weekend, and well, it started to sink in what I had done and I apologized.”

Mount shared that Levi explained his side, and he was considerate enough to forgive the Marvel star’s rash action:
“Zack being THE most considerate and gracious dude was beyond patient and understanding and really took the time to relate his side of things. I’m forever grateful, and I thank him for that.”
In the end, Anson Mount owned his mistake and shared his reflection on humbling oneself when we stumble:
“I did think it important to make the apology public as well. And thank you all for putting up with me too. It truly amazes me sometimes how big of an ass I can be. Ah, well. Humility never tastes good but it sure as hell is nourishing.”
The Black Bolt actor earned the public’s praise for showing courage and modesty. Now, this will serve as a lesson for everyone to verify and think twice before posting commentaries online.
Shazam! Fury Of The Gods Proves To Be DC’s Biggest Failure So Far
Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023)
Zachary Levi has been caught up in a whirlwind of drama since he shared a post from The Wrap, which claimed Black Adam’s Dwayne Johnson allegedly blocked Justice Society’s cameo in Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
The box-office failure of Shazam 2 has greatly affected the future of the franchise, and much to Levi’s dismay, his dream concept for a potential third installment is now wishful thinking.
Meanwhile, John Wick: Chapter 4 continues to break records in domestic and international arenas. Still, the raging success of the franchise must have affected Levi, in some way, that could not save Shazam 2 from the ashes of failure.
