Manchester United star Marcus Rashford netted the winner as his side beat Brentford 1-0 on Wednesday night.
Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has spoken out after matching Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s tally of 28 goals in a single season for the club. The England international netted the winner against Brentford on Wednesday night. And he’s now hoping his side can finish the season on a high after a first Premier League win since February.
Rashford was on target for United in the 27th minute, with the England international blasting home from close range after some good work from Marcel Sabitzer in the air.
And the forward has now admitted he’s delighted after matching Ibrahimovic’s goal tally from the 2017/2018 season.
“I’m enjoying myself, the main aim for me is just to keep trying to win football matches for the club and try and get as deep into the season as we can,” said the forward.
“We need to try and get as many points as we can.
“We know the two teams at the top are running away with it a little bit but it’s important for us and our own growth and development to keep winning games and see how many points we can finish on at the end of the season.”
He added: “The main thing was to win, we played much better football and better out of possession.

“The type of performance you can build on. It wasn’t easy or simple but very happy with the three points.
“They are difficult to break down, they defend well in a block of five or six players and you have to wait for openings.
“It’s a very clever pass from Antony and it ends up a simple goal but it was quite tough to break them down.
“We were calmer in and out of possession [compared to Newcastle], we got a few simple passes off and the runs became clearer to the players on the ball.
“It’s another busy month for us, every game is a big game and we have an opportunity to keep moving up the table in the league and getting to the next stages of competitions.
“It’s a massive month but we’re looking forward to it.”
Rashford earned praise from Ten Hag, but the Dutchman insisted others must step up to ensure the England international doesn’t continue to be so overly relied on.
“Very good but we can talk almost every game about it and when he is not in the game like on Sunday, it is no good for us,” said the 53-year-old.
“We have to bring him in the game but also he has to take responsibility and also other players.
“So I was really happy with the performance from Jadon Sancho, Antony and Marcel Sabitzer because all game they were a threat and they can do it. The return of Anthony Martial can help us so we have options there.”
He added: ”We didn’t get the second goal, life would have been easier but now you have to fight to the end.

“The passion and desire that was missing on Sunday, we showed today. We forgot our standards but we have to return to that if you want to be successful in the final stages of the season.
“This has to give us energy but we go again. Saturday is a big game again, it is going to be a hard game and we know we need energy to beat Everton.”
Brentford boss Thomas Frank, meanwhile, was ‘disappointed’ at his team’s failure to earn a draw.
“It’s a good picture of how far we have come that we’re sitting here disappointed we’ve not got anything out of the game,” he said.

“First half we were not good enough on the ball. First half I don’t think we hit the highest level.
“In the second half I felt we came out more aggressive.
“We were just disappointed that we didn’t get anything of it. That’s crazy because we were playing Manchester United.
“Sometimes we have to remind ourselves of who we are and what we have done.”
