The trailer of DC’s new film Blue Beetle dropped last week and is already garnering lots of discussions online between fandoms. Blue Beetle follows the plotline of a teenager named Jamie Reyes from El Paso who comes into contact with the extraterrestrial Blue Beetle Scarab, which attached itself to the base of his spine, giving him a variety of powers including speed, strength, and flight.

With Dwayne Johnson and Zachary Levi failing to set the box office on fire with their films, all eyes will now be on young Cobra Kai actor Xolo Mariduena to see if he can bring credibility to DC with Blue Beetle.
Blue Beetle Runs Into Controversy
Despite the trailer of Blue Beetle enjoying positive responses from DC fans, the film has run into a bit of trouble due to a controversial statement by one of the characters. The comment which was made by veteran George Lopez’s character involved him calling one of DC’s greatest superheroes Batman, a fascist towards the end of the trailer. Following this, netizens immediately took to social media to express their displeasure about the statement especially since it was made against an iconic superhero like Batman.
