EMMA Watson took the punk theme to a whole new level when she ripped her black gown at the 2013 Met Ball last night.

The 23-year-old actress sported an unfortunate split in her glamorous dress as she made her way inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art after almost falling over on the red carpet.

Watson was photographed pulling some rather funny faces as she almost fell flat on her face in front of a whole host of Hollywood A-listers.

It seems the near tumble put a strain on her daring  Prabal Garung dress and this resulted in a hole which was clearly visible above the thigh-high split than ran up the front of the dress.

Other ways that Watson chose to channel the event’s punk theme was by wearing just one dangling earring.

She pulled her hair back and wore minimalistic make-up as she posed for photogrpahers alongside a whole host of Hollywood stars.

The Met Ball is an annual ball that celebrates the annual opening of the Metropolitan Museum’s (The Met) fashion exhibit at the Costume Institute.

The red carpet evening where celebrities arrive dressed to impress is described as the fashion industry’s “Night of Nights.”
