Schurrle’s life looks a lot different from his days at Stamford Bridge
Schurrle’s early retirement is certainly different to most
The former Fulham and Borussia Dortmund star uploaded a series of pictures on his Instagram account, wearing just shorts, a hat and boots as he mastered terrifying-looking conditions.
Schurrle revealed this was part of the Wim Hof experience, joining the Dutch ‘Iceman’, who is world-renowned for his breathing techniques and ability to brave extraordinary temperatures.
Explaining his new look, Schurrle wrote: “Day 3 of the @iceman_hof experience and up the summit with our beautiful crew!!
“The hardest mental and physical thing I ever did! The last minute I couldn’t feel anything and I had to find something deep inside me to keep going!
“An experience that I will never forget! -19 degrees, 100 km/h wind in our faces, heavy snow and rain! What I learned…My body and I are stronger than I thought. If I put my mind and soul to it I can do everything.”
Schurrle’s 4.5million followers were clearly impressed by expeditions, with one in particular standing out.
A World Cup winner, Schurrle famously scored in a 7-1 destruction of Brazil
Chelsea legend Drogba, who won the Premier League alongside Schurrle in 2015, commented to express his shock.
“Fashion week @andreschuerrle proud of you my man my body would have stopped functioning straight away,” he wrote.
With that being day three of the experience, Schurrle had earlier posted images in an icy looking waterful, as well as one squatting on a rock barefoot.

And later got emotional meditating
Back inside, he uploaded a post of him meditating and how impactful it was.
“Cold exposure was one part of our experience! The other part were heavy breathing sessions!” he wrote.
“The emotions and feelings that came out of these sessions were incredible! I cried, I laughed and I relaxed! I forgave people and I felt an amazing gratitude for my life and the universe.”
