Chelsea are planning a massive clearout at the end of the season, according to the highly credible David Ornstein of The Athletic.
Speaking to Sky Sports after Chelsea were beaten 2-0 by Real Madrid, Ornstein named Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Hakim Ziyech, Mason Mount, Conor Gallagher, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy as players who are likely to be sold or shown the door this summer.
Chelsea have the largest squad in Europe after signing 14 new players across two transfer windows and spending over €600m. But their lavish spending has not translated into results on the pitch.
Chelsea are currently enduring their worst possible form in nearly 10 years after losing more games (16) than wins (15) so far. The Blues are almost certain to miss out on European football next season as they currently seat 11th in the Premier League table.
