After two consecutive matches, unfortunately, Arsenal decided to suspend negotiations on a new contract with coach Mikel Arteta.
Arsenal’s last two matches against Liverpool and West Ham both played out with the same scenario. They soon took a 2-0 lead, but then failed to keep the advantage. In the end, the “Gunners” were leveled 2-2.

The loss of up to 4 points at the decisive moment of the season makes Arsenal’s top position more shaky than ever. They are only 4 points ahead of the second ranked team, Man City , but have played more than one match. It is worth mentioning that the two teams are still meeting in the decisive battle on April 27.
Arsenal are under a lot of pressure at the moment. Therefore, the board of directors of the team has decided to suspend negotiations on a new contract with coach Mikel Arteta. Instead, they will do this at the end of the season.
The reason is because the Arsenal leadership wants coach Arteta and his students to focus fully in the last 7 matches of the season. They don’t want the Spaniard to be distracted by anything.
In fact, coach Arteta just renewed his contract with Arsenal last summer. This contract is valid until 2025. In which, the salary of the Spaniard increases by 3 million pounds, to 8.3 million pounds per year.

The news that Arsenal suspended the extension of the contract with coach Arteta coincided with the time PSG wanted to sack coach Christophe Galtier to find a new coach. In recent times, the Paris team has put coach Arteta in the sights. PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is very impressed with what he has done with Arsenal over the years.
Anyway, coach Arteta is not making any decisions about the future at this time. In front of him is a battle for survival with Man City at Etihad Stadium on April 27. Coach Pep Guardiola emphasized it was the final of the season.
The City manager said: “It’s a final of the season. If you lose a head-to-head match against Arsenal, it’s over. They’ve come an incredible way. I don’t think that’s it. Arsenal dropped a lot of points so we will do everything to keep chasing Arsenal, before that fateful battle.”
