The Golden State Warriors shockingly succumbed to the Sacramento Kings in Game 6 of their first-round series. Besides the loss, the way the Warriors played the game surprised a lot of people.
Jordan Poole didn’t have his best game, and after everything was said and done, Steve Kerr assessed his performance, sharing his thoughts on a painful night for the young guard (2:00 mark).
“Jordan never really going tonight, unfortunately. He got a little frustrated early — he had a couple plays where he didn’t get calls — and he was trying to attack but couldn’t quite shake free. So, just a frustrating night for him.”
While this could be taken as a shot at Poole, Kerr added that the whole team was responsible for this loss.
“It was a poor night for all of us, including me,” Kerr said. “We always say, ‘We win together, we lose together,’ and this was a team effort. That includes players and coaches. And the Kings outplayed us, outcoached us and deserved to win.”
Golden State played like they didn’t want to close out this series while the Kings were the opposite, going at it with a lot of intensity, fighting for every ball, being aggressive on both ends of the ball, and capitalizing on every mistake the Dubs made.
Poole finished the game with 7 points and only 1 assist, making mistakes in the process. The guard hasn’t had the best series, which initially cost them minutes of playing. Now, he must make adjustments or Kerr will do so, sending him to the bench.
Warriors Must Win Game 7 At Kings Home
The Warriors must approach Game 7 the same way they approached Game 5. They already won one away from home and will try to make it two this Sunday. The job won’t be easy, as the Kings remain a threat.
Kerr agreed with Giannis Antetokounmpo on the ‘there’s no failure in sports’ comments, and this is a good chance to prove that.
Then again, you should never doubt the heart of a champion, and the Warriors have proven they aren’t done whenever people try to put them down. This will be the only seventh game of the first round this season and we can’t wait to see what these two teams will bring to the table.
