UFC superstar Conor McGregor has reacted to a viral poster suggesting comedic actor Kevin Hart will play him in a biopic.
‘Notorious’ recently shared a trailer for his eagerly anticipated Netflix documentary and revealed it will be available on the popular streaming service from May 17.
The former dual-weight UFC champion linking up with Netflix has clearly got some fans excited about a future movie about McGregor’s life and one decided to make a poster to promote it.
Former MMA fighter Tam Khan brought the mock advert, which shows Hart playing McGregor, to the attention of the man himself and he found it hilarious.
“Wait, what? Kevin Hart,” McGregor wrote alongside a laughing emoji.
‘Mystic Mac’ already has a relationship with Hart after he visited his famous Black Forge Inn pub last year and thanked the Irishman for being so hospitable during a FaceTime call.
Despite being on good terms with the comedian, McGregor clearly has someone else in mind when it comes to who will play him on the silver screen.
Academy Award winner Jared Leto has previously expressed an interest in playing the 34-year-old fighter and says their 18-year age gap could be overcome with modern technology.
“If we do the UFC movie, if I was younger, I’d play Conor McGregor. I got the beard,” he told Extra TV last March.
“What Conor does and what these guys and gals do is just extraordinary.
“I’m too old to do Conor probably, but you never know. We could maybe use some CGI.”
McGregor invited Leto to ‘practice the part’ and just two months later they met in person and appeared to strike up an immediate friendship while sharing a drink.
Right now, the biggest star in MMA history is focused on improving his legacy rather than on who will portray him in the inevitable movie about his wild life.
McGregor will face Michael Chandler later this year in his first fight since breaking his leg in a trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021.
The UFC legend is intent on mounting the greatest sporting comeback of all time and wants to win the welterweight title from Leon Edwards after his clash with Chandler.
McGregor’s goal is to become the first three-weight champion in UFC history and, if he’s able to pull it off, it would certainly be a perfect way to end his career and potential movie.
