The Flame Emperor finally reveals what actually happened during the most recent Reverie and the chaos in Marijoa in Chapter 1083 of One Piece.
The following contains spoilers for One Piece Chapter 1083, “The Truth of That Day,” by Eiichiro Oda, Stephen Paul and Vanessa Satone, available in English from Viz Media.
One Piece‘s Chapter 1082 is a roller coaster of emotions. It first shows the devastating catastrophe of the Cross Guild’s new bounty system. The Marines now face what the pirates have been facing since time immemorial, with normal citizens readily stabbing them in the back for a lump of cash. Then, the chapter shifts to show Buggy and the Cross Guild, who are celebrating the murderer’s accomplishment. They’ve even gone as far as recruiting the old man into their crew. However, that’s not the biggest revelation. Just as Buggy receives his usual beating from Mihawk and Crocodile, he declares his desire to become the Pirate King, slyly hyping his own men and commanding them to aim for the One Piece.
In another part of the New World, there is yet another ruckus. A ship approaches Kamabakka Queendom, where the Revolutionary Army is currently taking refuge. The one leading the ship is none other than the Revolutionary Army’s second-in-command, Sabo. He brings with him numerous recruits from the destroyed Kingdom of Lulusia. However, Sabo has brought something even bigger. He immediately sits down with Dragon and Ivankov and prepares to tell them all the crazy stuff that happened during the Reverie — events that are so important that anybody who hears them will immediately be put in danger.
In Chapter 1083, Sabo begins his report. He tells the two Revolutionary Army higher-ups about the success of their operation. More specifically, they’ve accomplished three things. First, they managed to declare war on the World Government and the Celestial Dragons by destroying the World Nobles’ symbol. They have also successfully freed Kuma from the Celestial Dragons’ hands, while also granting freedom to as many slaves as they can free. Finally, they’ve gone and destroyed the Celestial Dragons’ food reserves. However, stirring up this much trouble also has immediate consequences. Reasonably, the Marines are fast to take action, sending in powerful forces to stop them.
Meanwhile, Ivankov and Dragon also tell Sabo about their accomplishments. It turns out that they weren’t just sitting back as the second-in-command was risking his life. They’ve successfully roused uprisings in eight of the 12 nations they have influence over. Unfortunately, one of them is the recently-destroyed Kingdom of Lulusia. That means that the remaining seven have expressed their desire to revolt, mainly by openly declining to pay their tributes and prevent further exploitation from the so-called World Nobles. In addition to Sabo’s doings and the numerous uprising, the Revolutionary Army is launching numerous attacks on their carriers, efficiently thinning the resources reaching Marijoa.
Ivankov is reasonably happy with all the results they’ve brought. Dragon, however, isn’t as complacent; he is fully aware that their fight is far from over. In fact, it has only just begun. According to him, the real battle will only commence once the Celestial Dragons have mobilized the Holy Knights — and their number-one target will undeniably be the one who caused the chaos in Marijoa, the Flame Emperor Sabo. And so, the conversation shifts to another hot topic: King Cobra’s assassination.
Dragon and Ivankov certainly mourn the loss of the late king, but they also commend the results of Sabo’s feat. Since he is said to be the king of Alabasta’s murderer, he is heralded as a hero all over the world. After all, rulers who have allied themselves with the World Government are generally viewed as inferior beings. Unfortunately, that is true even for genuinely good rulers like King Cobra. The two therefore urge Sabo to spill what actually happened to King Cobra since they still want to believe that Sabo is innocent.
Sabo then starts to recall the events that unfolded in Marijoa. Just as the revolutionaries are destroying the Celestial Dragons’ symbol and food supply, the World Nobles scutter in panic. Unsurprisingly, they focus their anger on the people around them. They want to punish the bodyguards for failing to stop the revolutionaries and whip their slaves to quicken their pace. The ones behind the chaos are none other than the four captains of the Revolutionary Army, who are also freeing as many slaves as they can.
Karasu, who has eaten the Soot-Soot Fruit, uses his power to take on as much gunfire as possible since all the bullets simply pass through him. Of course, he doesn’t simply take their attacks; he also uses his Devil Fruit powers to take down the Celestial Dragons’ security. Similarly, Lindbergh, the captain of the southern forces of the Revolutionary Army, causes chaos while telling the slaves to go toward the east side of town. Needless to say, the World Government aren’t just going to let them do as they please.
The first one to step up is Admiral Ryokugyu, who faces off against the Revolutionary Army captain Morley. However, the admiral can’t unleash the full extent of his power since the Celestial Dragons are pressuring him to keep them safe. Fujitora is facing the same dilemma. Moreover, they aren’t the only notable military force the World Government has. There are also the former Cipher Pol 9 agents, who have since become members of Cipher Pol 0, though they have yet to make a move.
While all this is happening, Sabo searches within Pangea Castle. He has followed Kuma, who is still being manhandled by St. Roswald and Charlos. The vile Celestial Dragon hasn’t given up on the idea of making Princess Shirahoshi his slave. Vivi, also concerned about Shirahoshi, confronts Rob Lucci. She tells him to move away and make Garp protect her instead. She even points out the agent’s lack of abilities, especially how he failed to previously protect Shirahoshi. As for King Cobra, he has asked for and is granted an audience with the mysterious Five Elders. Unfortunately, One Piece Chapter 1083 ends before revealing how King Cobra meets his demise.
