Lionel Messi and his family look to have found their Parisian home, after spending the last month at the five-star Royal Monceau, and it’s a £41million castle that once hosted Charles De Gaulle.
Lionel Messi looks to have finally settled on a permanent home in France, and it’s a £41million mansion on the outskirts of Paris.
While not quite Versailles, the ‘Pink Palace’ housed the French president, Charles De Gaulle, for three days in 1940 during the Second World War.
Messi joined PSG this summer after leaving Barcelona following his contract expiring.
The 34-year-old bid his farewell to Barcelona, his home of over 20 years, in a teary press conference before arriving in the French capital a couple of days later.
And Messi looks to have found his home in Paris after only a month.
The home is worth a fortune
The castle is enormous from the outside.
Messi, and his family, have been staying at the Royal Monceau, a five-star luxury hotel in the centre of Paris, since he arrived at the Parisian side.
The hotel’s website describes the hotel as “a contemporary and vibrant design masterpiece located in the heart of the City of Lights.”
The hotel has a spa, with a plethora of treatments available as well as luxury living facilities.
But Messi is keen not to bunker down in a hotel, like Jose Mourinho did at the Lowry during his time at Manchester United.
There is a cinema room
The pool is luxurious too.
Messi’s wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, has been tasked with finding the family a home.
And the five-time Ballon d’Or winners childhood sweetheart has a list that the property must fall under.
The property must include: an indoor pool, a gym, several children’s rooms, a secluded parking lot, a private home cinema, air conditioning and a garden.
The parameters set out are similar to their home in Barcelona.
The kitchen is very plush
Lionel Messi can play snooker or pool in his down time
And she appears to have found her property in the giant 2000 square meter ‘Pink Palace’, which was built in 1899.
The property is listed by Sotheby’s, and it’s described as: “The sublime Palais Rose is both calm and serene at the utmost luxury, located just 20 minutes west of Paris.”
“Nested in the beautiful Ibis Parc of Le Vésinet, this inspired Grand Trianon palace, listed as a historical monument, provides 2000 sq. meters of family and entertaining space.
Lionel Messi would be sleeping like a king in the mansion
It’s easy to see why the property is so expensive
“The estate includes the main villa featuring multiple reception rooms, 4 suites, a cinema, a playroom, an indoor swimming pool, a squash court and a gym.
“A caretaker villa, staff accommodations, a guest house of 500 sq. meters including 4 suites, garages, all set in a 7000 sq. meters immaculate and lush landscaped grounds.”
Messi made his PSG debut against Stade de Reims before the international break.
