Kylian Mbappe scored a first-half brace and Lionel Messi bagged an assist as Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) beat Auxerre 2-1 in Ligue 1 on Sunday (May 21). Fans on Twitter reacted to the result.
Mbappe was early at it, as the Frenchman scored his first after only six minutes. The No. 7 added another only two minutes later. He has now scored 40 goals and provided nine assists in 41 games across
competitions this season.
While Messi didn’t score on the night, he bagged an assist. He’s now the first player in Europe’s top five leagues this season to score and assist 20 goals this season across competitions. Messi has now also provided 300 assists in club football.
The visitors headed down the tunnel. leading 2-0. Lassine Sinayoko, though, made things interesting when he pulled one back for the hosts in the 51st minute, but PSG hung on for the win.
The Parisians have 84 points from 36 games and lead second placed RC Lens by six points. One fan said:

Before the start of the season, it was evident that PSG would rely heavily on the attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe to carry the team’s attack this season.
The three superstars delivered on the pitch. However, Neymar saw his season ended prematurely after picking up an ankle injury. The Brazilian went through a surgery and was ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.
The onus fell on Messi and Mbappe to lead the attack, which they have done so well. Mbappe has been prolific in terms of scoring records, netting 40 times across competitions. Messi, meanwhile, has kept a balance between scoring and providing. He has scored 20 goals and provided 20 assists in 39 games across competitions this season.
Thanks to their superstars Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi, the Parisians are on the cusp of retaining their Ligue 1 title. Leading second-placed Lens (78) by six points, Christophe Galtier and Co. need just a point from their two remaining games to become the new champions.
