Jack Cook was one of the biggest children of his age when Victoria Cook gave birth to him, but she said the experience was so good that she even FaceTimed her mother while she was in labor.
After grueling seven-hour labor that lasted without any pain treatment, a strong mother gave birth to a 10-pound baby that was about the same weight as a sack of potatoes. When 38-year-old Victoria Cook gave birth to her son Jack five months ago, he weighed an enormous 10 lbs. 3 oz.
Victoria said that she had very little discomfort despite just having gas and air to get her through and truly enjoyed the experience.
Last September, she spent hours in labor at a birthing facility ᴄʟᴏsᴇ to her London home, but it seems like she enjoyed every second of it. Despite little Jack being one of the largest babies of his age in the country when he was born, the nurses remarked on how calm the procedure was. We chose a birthing facility over a labor and Dᴇʟɪᴠᴇʀʏ ward in the hospital, and we were fortunate to experience another water birth.
It may sound a little hippie, but it was incredibly lovely to have nature noises playing in the background while I was in labor. Victoria asserts that she would strongly advise any expecting mothers to use a birthing facility.
It’s quite wonderful to be in the warm water while you’re in labor, and it really helps to relax your back. The water birth was also fantastic. We also had a great corner room, so the sunlight poured in from all sides. I want people to know that it is possible to give birth to a 10 lb kid and walk away from it because so many people have horror stories and horrible birth experiences.”
Victoria’s experience was so good that she ended up face-timing her mother while she was giving birth. I chatted to my brother’s wife, Liana, while giving brief video tours of the space because she was only ten weeks behind me. So I just explained what was happening to her. Victoria stated that by the seven-month mark, she had a large Bᴜᴍᴘ and appeared to be nine months Pʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ.
Victoria remarked: “It was really enormous. People claim that you appear larger when you are Cᴀʀʀʏing a second child, yet many people kept aSᴋɪɴg if I was expecting twins.
Today, Jack uses Emilie’s hand-me-down clothes and wears diapers that are the same size as his sister Emilie, who is one year old.
Victoria remarked: “Jack was one of the largest children his age in the nation when he was born; his weight was in the 98th percentile.
I had some 0-3 month clothes for him to wear as he wouldn’t fit into newborn apparel. However, we encountered a diaper problem because none of the newborn-sized ones available at the facility fit him.
