Arsenal have ‘many names’ on their list of potential midfield targets including Danilo of Palmeiras, journalist Fabrizio Romano has informed GiveMeSport.
The Gunners are believed to be eager to strengthen their engine room options in the upcoming winter transfer window but don’t appear to have settled on a preferred target just yet.
Back in November, ESPN claimed that Arsenal are ‘keen on adding a central midfielder and a winger’ if possible in January with the club’s owners ready to back a bid for the Premier League title.
The Athletic have since revealed that the north London outfit have made an initial offer worth up to €65 million (£57million) for Shakhtar Donetsk wide man Mykhailo Mudryk.
However, it remains to be seen who manager Mikel Arteta targets in a central role and whether it’s feasible for the capital club to make two signings next month.
Back in August, Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail revealed that Arsenal were eager to conclude a deal for Danilo ahead of the September 1 deadline, but ultimately, they were unable to do so.
Ben Jacobs then told GMS that Palmeiras were looking for around £20 million for the Brazilian and that the capital club’s pursuit was still ‘one to watch’ for the winter window.
What has Romano said about Arsenal?
Arsenal currently have Granit Xhaka, Thomas Partey, Mohamed Elneny and Albert Sambi Lokonga to call upon in central midfield.

Yet Romano has disclosed to GMS that Arteta has several players on his wishlist for that area of the pitch despite nothing being at an advanced stage at this moment in time.
He said: “There are many names on the list including Danilo of Palmeiras, a player they have followed for a long time, but at the moment, there is still nothing advanced.”
Who else could Arsenal sign?
Arsenal were heavily linked with a move for Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans over the summer yet Football.London stated that they were prepared to wait until his contract expires.
That’s because the Foxes were said to be demanding £32 million for the Belgium international despite his existing deal only having 12 months left to run.
90min have provided an update on Arsenal’s interest in Tielemans, though, stating they have cooled their intrigue in Danilo in favour of the Leicester star.
Whether Arteta pushes for a move for either Danilo or Tielemans in January may depend on how much Mudryk ends up costing as he now appears to be the priority.
Arsenal offered Felix with no buy obligation but they want someone else
Arsenal has been offered a chance to sign Joao Felix on loan in January with no obligation to buy, according to Ben Jacobs on Twitter, but the Gunners have another priority.
Atletico Madrid is desperate to ship out Felix after he fell out with Diego Simeone over playing ideas, and they want him to spend the next six months at another club.
Arsenal has lost Gabriel Jesus for a few months and wants to sign another attacker to bolster their group.
Felix is on their wishlist and Atleti’s desire to ship him out should help them make the decision in the next transfer window.
However, Jacobs wrote in another tweet that the Gunners are focused on completing a transfer for Mikhalo Mudryk at the moment.
This means another suitor could swoop and add Felix to their squad before Arsenal is ready to complete the transfer.
Just Arsenal Opinion
Felix is a terrific player, but we cannot sign all our targets and must prioritise the most important of them to our manager.
Mikel Arteta has watched both players. If he believes he needs Mudryk more, we must support him and add the Ukrainian to the squad first.
If there is still time, space and money, we could bring Felix to the Emirates before the window closes.
