It was one of the most important moments in his music career, so it’s only fitting that Niall Horan had his rumoured new love interest by his side.
The Mullingar native (22) marked his last performance with One Direction before their hiatus on Sunday night back where it all started – The X Factor.
The band was handpicked by Simon Cowell in 2010 and now they’re preparing to go their separate ways for an undecided amount of time.
And one person who was on hand to offer a shoulder of support was singer Selena Gomez (23), who has been linked to Horan in recent weeks after they were spotted kissing at actress Jenna Dewan Tatum’s birthday party earlier this month.
Fuel has only been added to the fire when Gomez was spotted backstage at the final of the UK talent show, which saw 17-year-old Louisa Johnson named winner.
Selena has previously denied she has a romantic relationship with the Irish singer, saying: ”Oh my god! No [but] I love him, I always have. He’s amazing.”
One Direction’s former mentor Simon Cowell paid a fitting tribute to the foursome before their performance, saying he “never could have predicted” they would have achieved the levels of superstardom they’ve reached in the last five years.
“Enjoy the time off, have a fantastic time. The thing I’m probably most proud of is who you’ve all become,” Cowell said in a celebrity video tribute. “I’ll always be there.”
