Arsenal have held more talks over Joao Felix, according to a Daily Mail report in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The Gunners are looking to bolster their attacking ranks in the January transfer window.
While Mykhaylo Mudryk appears to be Arsenal’s priority, the North Londoners are also trying to land Felix on loan.
The Daily Mail has reported that the Gunners are trying to lower the fee for the 23-year-old.
Atletico have apparently asked for £13million up front, with add-ons taking the fee to £16million.
The La Liga side spent £114m on recruiting Felix in the summer transfer window of 2019.
The 23-year-old had enjoyed a breakthrough season at Benfica, establishing himself as one of the top talents in European football.
However, Felix has failed to hit those same heights at Atletico. Now, it looks as though the two parties will part company.
Indeed, the ‘world-class‘ talent was left out of Atleti’s Copa del Rey matchday squad for their clash against Real Oviedo on Wednesday evening.
Arsenal pursuing top talents
Meanwhile, Arsenal have been lacking a cutting edge since Gabriel Jesus was sidelined due to injury.
The Gunners would reportedly like to add both Felix and Mudryk to their ranks this month.
Although Arsenal remain in contention for both players, differences remain over their respective valuations.
On top of that, the Gunners are also competing with Chelsea over Mudryk.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have been linked with Felix, but it looks as though they’ve cooled their interest.
“Joao Felix was a name who excited United fans,” Dharmesh Sheth said on Sky Sports News on Friday.
“But it was a no-goer with the terms that Atletico Madrid were quoting.
“United cannot pay £19m for a six-month loan, they don’t want to do that.
“If those terms change, and it’s a big if, then Manchester United could go back to the table with Atletico Madrid and say let’s say.”
