The release of Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021 came at a very high cost- fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe would now have to say goodbye to this decade’s defining face for Spider-Man, Tom Holland. Now fans may take Andrew Garfield’s name instead, but being part of the MCU is a significant asset that Holland holds over the former.
Those six MCU movies that Holland starred in, starting from Captain America: Civil War to the movie mentioned above has thrust the young 26-year-old actor to international stardom. And judging from reports that reveal his salaries for numerous MCU movies over the years, he’s been paid very-very well!
Tom Holland’s Time As Spider-Man In The MCU Has Paid Him Well
Be it the pandemic or not, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has consistently put out movies that can earn huge numbers at the box office and that’s not a fact that every major movie studio can claim to be true.
One of the many reasons Kevin Feige can always pull off such numbers is because the MCU has a huge fan following. However, it’s how connected they are to the characters in the franchise, and more importantly, the actors who portray them that make fans come back for more.
Tom Holland was a huge asset that the MCU could proudly flaunt, which they in fact did with six various blockbuster movies from the franchise that always included the British actor in the role of Peter Parker/ Spider-Man.
After all the hard work and love that Holland gave to the art of playing a superhero for six movies, fans would expect that he would’ve been paid accordingly. Well, as the numbers from Celebrity Net Worth prove, he was paid not only accordingly, but maybe even more to last ten generations of his family!
According to Celebrity Net Worth, the Uncharted star earned $250,000 for his work in Civil War in 2016, which saw a significant upgrade with the release of Homecoming the very next year in 2017 as he earned $500,000+ a $1.5 million bonus!
As for his time playing Peter Parker in the flagship movies Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War, the 26-year-old earned $3 million for his work in both movies with some reports suggesting a possible wage hike to $4-5 million- talk about setting a bar.
According to We Got This Covered, the actor wished for the wages to be higher if he was to ever re-enter the MCU once again, which was around the $20 million mark. Better have your pockets full Feige!
It’s All Thanks To Robert Downey Jr. Who Vouched For Tom Holland As Spider-Man
Tom Holland already has such a stellar career in Hollywood at the age of 26, and his stardom can only thrust him forward into the industry because he still has a lot to achieve.
But there’s one man whom everybody knows that Holland should probably thank every now and then. That man vouched for him when it came to choosing Spider-Man for the Marvel Cinematic Universe- he is Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr.
Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the highest-paid actor in the MCU, or at least while Tony Stark was still alive, revealed that he did indeed have a part in the hiring of Tom Holland as Spider-Man in the MCU.
“When we were doing Civil War was when…right on the beginning of that they were casting and they brought in all the finalists for the ‘exam’. They were like “he’s(Holland) great isn’t he?” I was like “Yeah he is!” and that was it!”
Three words equated to millions of dollars in salary for Tom Holland, guess he owes Downey Jr. big time!
