In a rare break from making movies, Hemsworth and his wife, Spanish actress Elsa Pataky, were special guests at the Jacob’s Creek estate in the Barossa Valley over the weekend, the first time Hollywood star and his family have visited the picturesque South Australian wine region.

The Hemsworths hosted a sunset BBQ – exclusively attended by Vogue Australia – at the historic Jacob’s Creek Estate cottage to launch the Double Barrel vintage, which is finished in aged whiskey barrels. Hemsworth, partook in a barrel making session – with The Avengers & 12 Strong action star knocking a wine barrel together in just minutes – after a friendly competition of wine blending with his wife and friends. Earlier Hemsworth took a tour of the Jacobs Creek vineyards and barrel room with the winery’s Chief Winemaker Ben Bryant, and christened a bunch of grapes from the Jacob’s Creek Heritage vineyard block which will bear the Hemsworth name.

Hemsworth, who lives in Byron Bay with Pataky and their three children, but regularly travels the world making movies, is the voice of the Double Barrel ad campaign, and said the wine reminds him of home:
“We’ve been warmly welcomed in the Barossa by the Jacob’s Creek team who have taken us into their home and shown us what makes this place and its wines world class,” he said. “As someone who travels a lot I’m always looking for things that remind me of home and a glass of Double Barrel does just that.”
