Streaming services have majorly taken over the content business. The audience is still interested in going to the theatres for movies that contain amazing VFX or revolutionary technology. They are more than happy to sit back and watch their favorite content from the comforts of their home.
Not only people but the actors are also hugely benefitting from this change. And when it comes to actor Dwayne ‘The Rock‘ Johnson, he has his fingers in all the pies. Despite his movies not being a major success at the box office, he’s still earning big bucks from Amazon and Netflix.
Johnson’s time in wrestling was filled with one memorable moment after another. His time at Hollywood has also been quite rewarding, to say the least. So much so that he has inspired a transition to acting from wrestling, with John Cena being a prime example.
However, the 10-time world champion’s recent big-budget outing, Black Adam, did not fare well at the box office. This does not stop major streaming services to get him on their substantial projects.
Foray in the streaming services is not new for Dwayne Johnson
The People’s Champ appeared in the 2021 Netflix movie Red Notice along with bigshots Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot. He charged a sizable amount of $15 million for the project. Johnson is set to appear in the 2023 film The Red One, with popular actor Chris Evans.
The much-awaited project will directly appear on streaming services rather than hitting the big screens. It does not matter about their screen collections, but the star power they bring to a project that certainly matters.
A sequel to Black Adam?
The Rock’s fans were left high and dry after learning that a second installment for Black Adam will not be in Warner Brother’s or DC’s future plans.
This move was also followed by Henry Cavill’s removal from Superman’s character. The tumultuous business with major studios is also the reason, streaming services is growing popular among actors as well.
Johnson was a household name in the famous Attitude Era along with fellow wrestlers such as Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Phenom The Undertaker.
His immense popularity bagged him parts in some of the best projects and he has not looked back since. Speculation of an in-ring return for The People’s Champ is growing by the day. An exciting clash against nephew Roman Reigns might beckon for him.
While Dwayne Johnson’s recent movie projects might not have worked at the box office. There’s no denying the fact that he carries an immense superstardom along with him.
That might just be one of the reasons why top streaming services like Amazon Prime backed by $901 Billion Amazon is vying for his signature!
