Nature has delivered a rare phenomenon. It’s incredibly rare to conceive triplets naturally with most being born via IVF. The chances of conceiving triplets is around one in every 9,000 births. An Argentinian girl who gave birth to a set of triplets when she was only 16 years old has made headlines on social media.
Natalie Scanlan, 16, gave birth to three identical daughters – for the second time – Ellie, Lillie, and Maddie, in April this year. She has become Britain’s youngsters mother of sʜᴏᴄᴋ triplets has said it was the ‘best thing’ she has ever done.
She fell pregnant before going on holiday to Tenerife with her 19-year-old boyfriend. After thinking she had ᴄᴏᴍᴇ ᴅᴏᴡɴ with food ᴘᴏɪsᴏɴɪɴɢ on the island, she returned home, saw her, and found out she was expecting. But it was not until she had a scan two months later that she found out she was triplets.
Eighteen months on, Natalie speaks on the documentary about how her life has changed.“It was a sʜᴏᴄᴋ that we were having one baby, never mind three. But when it sunk in I decided I was just going to go ahead with it,” she said.
Natalie had three baby daughters, and they all now live in a two-bed council house. The 17-year-old shared that she did not have as much freedom as she used to and she had got to do what the babies want to do. To make ends meet, she wants to find a job, but it is difficult to find suitable work for mothers who are taking care of babies. Raising babies is really difficult and takes a lot of time.
Natalie’s mum, Sarah, who also fell pregnant aged 16, said life can be tough for Natalie because she is still young and wants to be free and enjoy her life. However, everything will be fine.
