Real Madrid were not expected to make any moves in the January transfer window and they have not till now. Even though the team has seemed to struggle with form and fatigue after the World Cup break, the club have stayed true to their strategy. And it does feel like the storm has passed, and Carlo Ancelotti’s side have improved over the last couple of games.
While Real Madrid might not make any additions this month, they will need to strengthen their ranks in the future, because the squad depth is not great at the moment other than in midfield.
One such position where the club need to make additions is left-back and they have been linked with Fran Garcia of Rayo Vallecano, who came through Real Madrid’s youth system but left after failing to establish himself in the senior side. And Ancelotti has pretty much confirmed that the club are keeping an eye on him.
As reported by Real Madrid’s official website, Ancelotti said about Garcia:
“The squad has been finalised until June. He’s a player who came through the youth academy and we’re assessing him and we’ll take decisions on that at the end of the season.”
Real Madrid are keeping an eye on left-back
Garcia has enjoyed a stunning rise after leaving Real Madrid and joining Rayo Vallecano. The 23-year-old is one of the most highly-rated left-backs in La Liga right now.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, Garcia has made 20 appearances and provided 2 assists while playing 1684 minutes of football for Rayo Vallecano this season.
Real Madrid are believed to hold a 50% sell-on clause for Garcia, as well as the first right to refusal. That could come in handy, as recent rumours have suggested that Bayer Leverkusen, currently managed by none other than Xabi Alonso, are interested in activating the left-back’s €10 million release clause.
Thus, nothing seems certain about the future of Garcia at this point of time. Let’s see if Los Blancos end up making a move for him or not.
