Kate Hudson is open to playing an MCU role
Kate Hudson rose to fame for her romantic comedies in the early 2000s, and she recently appeared in Netflix’s hit film Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. While Hudson talked about her roles in romantic comedies, she also revealed to Variety that she is down to take any MCU role.
“I remember him calling me and going, ‘You gotta do a Marvel.’ I’d be open to it, for sure. Why not? If it was right, I would love it, I think I’d have a lot of fun.”
The actress also pointed out the lack of female leads in Marvel films. There are quite a number of women characters involved in the MCU, but as Hudson mentioned, only a handful has their own solo movies.
“There’s definitely an appetite and a space for [female-led films], but I look forward to there being a bigger space. You’ve got ‘Captain Marvel’ – Marvel is wrapping their arms around women. But it’s still rare.”

Hudson is also grateful for landing a role in Rian Johnson’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. The Birdie Jay actress said that the material is good and she felt safe working with the team.
“I just felt like I was given material that I could play with. When you have good material like that, and you have people you feel safe with, it feels like why we do it. We want to do things that go out on a limb. It doesn’t happen very often.”
Aside from her numerous movie and TV roles, Hudson is also girl-bossing her way into producing her own films and building an empire with writer and producer Lena Dunham. The Bride Wars star said that she’s looking into directing a television project.
“It’s the first time I’ve been really moved to want to invest in something like that again, but I want to look at the next television project very specifically, like I would look at my career in film.”
The actress obviously has a hectic schedule ahead of her, and this is why fans should not expect to see her in any MCU films very soon. Regardless, Hudson is enthusiastic to join the Marvel team in the future.
