A group of photographers exploring the western Chinese province of Guizhou’s Pingyan town discovered a number of enormous footprints. The most surprising thing is that these had human form.
Most ancient societies and civilizations have stories and myths about enormous beings living on Earth. Stories of giants have been passed down through the ages, starting with the Indo-Europeans and ending with the Greeks and the Christian Bible. Unless you accept the huge footprints that have been discovered all across the world, there has never been any solid proof of the existence of giants. There have been numerous large footprints found that are estimated to be millions or even billions of years old. The natives in the areas where these footprints have been discovered refer to them as “the footprints of god”. Could our understanding of evolution and the historical record be flawed?
The Pingyan Giant Footprint
A team of photographers found a massive footprint in the shape of a human in August 2016 in the Guizhou province in southwest China’s Pingyan hamlet. By the following month, numerous websites had posted comparable tales, adding credence to the narrative of the enormous footprint. According to reports, the footprint measured 57 cm long, 20 cm wide, and 3 cm thick. Found fossilized in rock, the footprint was dated back to the prehistoric era. Given that the average foot size of a man is 18 cm and that of a woman is 16.5 cm, this discovery would be significant and cause historians and scientists to reevaluate our understanding of the development of humans.

The discovery is only briefly described in the initial story on the footprint, which also only lists “agencies” as the discovery’s sources. However, a search of the regional newspapers in the vicinity of Guizhou was conducted, and no articles regarding the enormous footprint were found in August 2016, claims Snopes.com. So far, neither the scientific community nor the media have released any reliable works on the subject. The original report has, however, been copied by numerous conspiracy websites, and they have linked it to other purported huge footprints.

Leaving Giant Footprints
According to these websites, an archaeologist by the name of Michael Tellinger determined that one of these enormous imprints was created roughly 200 million years ago. In 2012, Tellinger allegedly discovered a second giant footprint in Africa. Tellinger was certain that this discovery was one of the best pieces of proof that giants formerly inhabited the planet. Even though Tellinger calls himself an archaeologist, many people have accused him of being a conspiracy theorist.

A third footprint was found in Bolivia, but according to CNN, it was actually from a big carnivorous dinosaur, not an extinct giant. Prior to it, Jerry MacDonald discovered another enormous footprint in New Mexico in 1987 that was 100 cm in length and was thought to be 290 million years old. The largest footprint left by a carnivorous dinosaur was this one, according to records. However, since there is no explanation for how it got there or what left it, this print has presented difficulties for paleontologists. Again, this gave conspiracy websites space to speculate and used this material to support their theories about the presence of prehistoric giants.
Not Rock-Solid Proof
When it comes to any kind of academic investigation, the assertions made by these conspiracy theorists are completely unfounded. It is believed that the enormous footprint left by Pingyan was preserved in solid granite, a substance that is unsuitable for preserving any kind of print. Additionally, rather than 200 million years, the rock is most likely 3.1 billion years old. More research is being done on the subject even though the finding of these other traces has raised a growing number of issues. Could these footsteps have been made by huge beings from the distant past, perhaps even by our ancestors? There is still no assurance. The prior study, however, suggests that this solution is improbable.
