.@stephenasmith’s mind is not changing … MJ is the GOAT
While he did stick to his ground, Smith had lavish praise for James who is playing his 20th season in the NBA.
Stephen A. Smith’s Reasons On Why Michael Jordan Is The GOAT
The Michael Jordan vs. LeBron James debate has been raging for some time now, and Smith is on team Jordan. Speaking about the comparison, he said James belongs to the Mount Rushmore of basketball.
He also added that he always maintained “profound respect” for James and that he was one of the greatest ever players to have played the sport.
“But I told you before, he never was, he never has been, nor will he ever be greater than Michael Jordan – it will never happen. LeBron has six losses, LeBron didn’t show up in one NBA Finals which was against Dallas. This is a time we should be celebrating the Herculean efforts, the greatness, the commitment to excellence, the superb play, the statesmanship, the ambassadorship of all things that are LeBron James.”
He added that while it was James who ruled the modern-day era of basketball, his feelings about Jordan as the undisputed champion would never change.
“This dude is something special, the game will miss him when he is gone. He is nothing short of phenomenal. But my mind on this specific topic will never change – LeBron James is No 2 all-time and Michael Jordan is No 1.”
Smith is right in his thoughts, as Jordan’s greatness has remained unparalleled. While James has been the face of the NBA for the last two decades, Jordan was rightly one of the global superstars in the 90s and has made his mark that’s stayed intact to date.
On his part, James will surely go down as one of the greatest players in NBA history and have a place in the pantheon of basketball greats.
