Kylian Mbappe has been accused of being ‘arrogant’ after a clip of the Paris Saint-Germain star and magician Julius Dein went viral on social media.
Mbappe, 24, is widely considered to be one of the world’s best footballers.
The French superstar has already won a host of honours during his career to date, including the World Cup.
Mbappe went agonisingly close to winning a second World Cup in December.
But despite becoming only the second player ever to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final, Mbappe’s France were beaten by Lionel Messi’s Argentina on penalties.
Messi and Mbappe were recently present at a fundraising event which saw Julius Dein, who boasts 6.8 million followers on Instagram and a further 11.6 million followers on TikTok, show off various magic tricks to PSG’s players.
The clip with Messi quickly spread across social media after the Argentina legend appeared to speak a few words of English.
Kylian Mbappe accused of being arrogant
Now a clip of Mbappe is also being widely shared on social media, but it’s fair to say that it’s divided opinion.
The video shows Mbappe being asked by Dein who is favourite superhero is. The Frenchman initially said it was himself before changing his answer to Spiderman after being pressed.
As Dein went to grab something from his pocket, Mbappe walked off.
The world-class footballer said he would come back but never did.
“I hate Mbappe’s personality,” the video’s caption reads, “I didn’t think I was going to say it but he is much more arrogant than [Cristiano] Ronaldo.”
While some people agree that Mbappe comes across as arrogant here, others have jumped to the PSG star’s defence.
It can be difficult for high-profile footballers to keep their foot on the ground.
There are countless examples of players who have allowed all the praise and adulation to go to their heads.
But in the form of Messi, a player who has managed to remain surprisingly humble during his illustrious career, Mbappe has the best possible role model to learn from by his side at the Parc des Princes.
