The duo are considered among the best players in England’s history after enjoying outstanding careers.
But who was the better of the two players?
That’s a debate that has raged for some time and will go on for many years yet.
One man in a good place to judge is Fernando Torres.
The Spaniard played with both players during his football career.
He was teammates with Gerrard at Liverpool (2007-2011) and with Lampard at Chelsea (2011-2015).

Torres has now given his thoughts on the debate in a video posted by the Champions League’s TikTok account, in partnership with Gatorade.
And he made his feelings clear about the pair.

Not only did he pick Gerrard over Lampard, he also went with Anfield over Stamford Bridge.
Furthermore, he selected Benitez over Mourinho, having played under both.
Torres also went with Messi over Ronaldo, Haaland over Mbappe and Suarez over Lewandowski.
And the Spaniard also conceded that his international teammate, Villa, was better than himself.
