One of the best players to ever step foot on an NBA court, LeBron James has made history practically every year since entering the league.
The King recently reached a huge milestone earlier this week, boosting his legacy and confirming that he’s one of the best to ever do it.
After his record-breaking night, where he became the top scorer in NBA history, an interview saw the light, where James talked about a variety of topics. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar sat down with ESPN to discuss NBA-related matters, including the Lakers missing out on Kyrie Irving and more.
Moreover, he talked about the overhyped prospect Victor Wembanyama, who is expected to make a huge impact on the league once he makes it. The Frenchman is a lock for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft and everybody has said something great about him.
LeBron James Had Big Words For Victor Wembanyama
LeBron isn’t an exception, and he recently talked about the young big man. Wembanyama is doing impressive things in Europe, but once he makes it to America, the challenge will be harder.
That’s why getting advice from legends and veterans will be crucial for him. LeBron offered him a solid piece of advice recently, urging him to enjoy the moment and have fun while doing his thing (15:24).
“One, the most important thing, is to stay true to the game and the main point of anything, give to the game,” James told Mike Wilbon. “Work your butt off. Try to be better than you were yesterday every single day. Commit to the game. I believe, we always talk about the game gods. And if you disrespect the game gods, then karma is a mug.”
LeBron also told him to keep in mind that things will get really serious as soon as he landed in the association, so Wemby needs to keep having fun, which is how everybody should play the game,
“Second thing is, don’t forget to have fun. Because you’re gonna, it becomes a business. It becomes a business right, right away. And he’s going through it right now, you know? It’s gonna get even, I don’t want to say worse, but it gets even more demanding on you on the business side. But, at the end of the day, just have fun, man. This is a very, very small number of people who get the opportunity to do what we do and inspire people all over the world,” James added.
James knows the pressure of being a No. 1 pick and all the expectations that come with it. He’s trying to pass this wisdom to Wembanyama, who can change the league forever.
Just like LeBron, Giannis Antetokounmpo has showered Wemby with praise, warning everybody that when this guy comes, it’s gonna be a problem for the rest of the association.
