Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid have identified Marcelo Brozovic, a target for Barcelona, as an important summer target.
According to a report by Calciomercatoweb, Real Madrid are interested in signing Barcelona transfer target Marcelo Brozovic from Inter Milan. Carlo Ancelotti is a big admirer of the Croatian midfielder and wants him at the Santiago Bernabeu ahead of next season.
Barcelona have been keen on signing the 30-year-old midfielder for a while. But they are all set to face competition from rivals Real Madrid. Brozovic has been a part of Inter Milan since joining them back in the summer of 2016.
The Croatian international has featured in over 300 matches for the Nerazzurri. He has found the back of the net on 30 occasions and has 37 assists to his name. The Inter Milan defensive midfielder loves to sit in front of the backline, help them out and play long balls. He is great on the ball as well as off it.
In the ongoing season, he has only featured in 13 matches for Simone Inzaghi’s team due to injury. The 30-year-old’s contract at the club ends in the summer of 2026. And, Inter Milan will be in no hurry to sell a player who has been a vital part of the squad for years. But, a sizeable price tag can surely tempt them.

Ancelotti is interested in the Croatian midfielder and believes that he can fill the big boots of Luka Modric. Modric is already 37 and does not have many years left in him. Los Blancos want to sign a midfielder who can take the place of the veteran in the centre of the park. And, the Real Madrid boss believes that Brozovic can help their cause.
However, it does not really make sense because Real Madrid already have quite a few world-class young midfielders in their squad. They do have a core to go ahead with. And signing a defensive midfielder to replace a central midfielder does not make sense. That said, Real Madrid can still look to sign Brozovic as he will push Aurelien Tchouameni for a spot in the XI. The 30-year-old’s arrival will add depth to their midfield.
Meanwhile, Barcelona will look to sign Brozovic as a successor to Sergio Busquets. The Barcelona captain is in the twilight of his career and might depart in the summer. It will be interesting to see where Brozovic eventually ends up amid interest from the Blaugrana and Real Madrid.
