Surprisingly, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s cousin, Umar Nurmagomedov, took the reins and declared the next opponent for Makhachev. Unquestionably, Nurmagomedov gained respect from the fighters. Both Beneil Dariush and the ‘Diamond’ raised the fighter and gave the respect he deserved for the bold move.

Poirier asked, “What’s next In the lightweight division?” Nurmagomedov shook the platform as he replied, “Benil vs Islam.” Without a doubt, Dariush was quick to address the challenge. However, all he had was respect for Nurmagomedov. Dariush wrote, “Wooah! Respect to Umar.”
The young Dagestani fighter and the ‘Eagle’s’ cousin brother have taken over the MMA world with their superior striking skills and Dagestani wrestling skills. Undeniably, he has amassed the respect from every single fighter. The ‘Diamond’ simply could not disagree with that. On the thread of tweets he wrote, “I don’t disagree.”

Although Makhachev successfully defended his championship title against Volkanovski. ‘The Great’ admitted to having a discussion with the lightweight champion and revealed that Makhachev wanted a rematch.
Volkanovski said, “I’m hearing that he [Makhachev] was saying, I heard, we spoke, could be wrong that he was going back to his corner saying he wants a rematch. Because he thought he lost.” Doubtlessly, the Australian fighter further revealed that he would jump on the chance to fight Makhachev. “I’m gonna jump on that. Rematch,” he added.
